Glaucoma Week was observed at Goutami Eye Institute (GEI), Rajahmundry, from March 7 to March 13, 2021.

During the Glaucoma week 107 persons, out of 936 screened, were tested for Glaucoma and 16 of them were found to have been affected with Glaucoma. All the 16 patients were provided with free medication by GEI. Our Senior consultants Dr. Y. Srinivas Reddy and Dr. Prashanth have briefed regarding Glaucoma and its adverse effect and the need for early detection and follow-up treatment.

Dr. Prashanth also participated in a local Television talk, emphasizing the importance of early detection and treatment of Glaucoma.

While briefing the gathering and the press, Mr. V.V. Kumar, Managing Director also highlighted on the treatment for Glaucoma and the free services being offered by GEI apart from other services being made available for the poor and needy, irrespective of the socio-economic status. Mr. Kumar also informed that a team of Senior Doctors are always available at GEI to offer treatment for Glaucoma as well as for early detection.
